HOW TO LOAD MICROSOFT WORD.

To load ms word, follow the drop down below:

1. Click on Start button on the task bar,

2. Use your mouse pointer or your arrow key to scroll to "All Programs"

3. From the drop-down list that will display, point or scroll to Microsoft Office,

4. From Microsoft Word drop-down menus that displayed, Click on Microsoft Word.

5. Allow the program to load.     



FEATURES OF MICROSOFT WORD

By features, we mean what one can easily use to identify Microsoft Word. These features are as follows:

1. Title Bar: This is the topmost bar in Microsoft word. It contains the Application logo, the application name, the file name of the current document, the minimize button, the maximize and restore button, and the closed button.



2. Menu Bar: This bar contains the menu items such as Home tab, insert tabs, Page layout tab, Reference tab, view tab, review tab, etc. Each and every one of this menus is divided into categories and sub categories.
3. Formatting Tool Bar: This bar contains styles and commands used for formatting and arrangement of text in Microsoft word. Such commands include, Bold, Italics, Underline, Left, Centre, Right and justify alignment, increase and decrease font size, font characters, sub and super script, and so forth.
4. Standard Tool Bar: This bar consist of command icons necessary to trigger events. such commands are Undo, Redo, Save, Open, New, Print, and so forth.
5.  Office Button: The office button replaced the "File Menu" in the lower version of Ms Word. The office button seems to be found only in version 2007 of Microsoft Office, every other versions retains the usual name "File". Office button contains commands such as the ones displayed as icons in the standard tool bar. e.g. New, Open, Close, Save As, Save, Print, etc.
6. Ruler Bar: The ruler bar consist of the horizontal and vertical bar. It is used to measure document and drawings.
7. Scroll Bar: The scroll is used to navigate through pages up and down, left and right. It is located at the right hand side corner of Ms Word.
8. Status Bar: This bar counts all the activities done in Ms Word.
9. Printable page or Work Area: This is the place where all works are done. Anything done outside the printable page will be printed during and after printing.
10.   The Blinking Cursor:  The blinking cursor in Ms Word detect a start point or insertion point of your work, usually during typing. You can boot your computer, load Ms-Word and identifying the features discussed in this lesson using fig 2 above.
